Pelvic girdle pain is pain that occurs either at the back of your pelvis through your sacro-iliac joints (SIJ) or at the front of the pelvis over your pubic bones.

The latest evidence shows that approximately 45% of women will experience some form of PGP throughout their pregnancy.

Below are a few tips and tricks to reduce your PGP:

When performing strengthening exercises & stretching, avoid single leg activities: Imagine you’re wearing a mini skirt when moving!

Avoid constipation/straining on the toilet

Icepacks over your pubic symphysis and SIJ joints

Wear a pelvic support belt

Sleep with a pillow between your knees

If you think you may be experiencing PGP, book in with your friendly Women’s Health Physiotherapists for an individualised assessment and management strategy.
